Chipped Axinite 3.75ctThis is a rare natural gem known as Axinite I don't cut a lot of natural stones but axinite is one of my favorites. Unfortunately this stone chipped on me at the end, with a flake coming right off the culet. It still looks neat, and has some natural needle inclusions as well. It weighs in at 3. 75ct

charged up with photons from the sides and emit a beam of coherent light out of the end--in fact the very first laser was built with a ruby

The color of this stuff is the most vivid green-green color I've seen in any gemstone

They work pretty hard to avoid this happening since it makes the crystal useless for its intended purpose (detecting invisible radiation)

has incredible fluorescence and is totally clean

The crystal was apparently grown for use in lasers

This limits what you can cut on it

We will have more of these and more cut variety in the future

Er:YAG doping usually is a fairly high percentage

with a faceted LuAG Lumogarnet on the front

7mm across

with a less platy form overall but similar excellent clarity and color

It is also filled with sparkly zinc crystals
